Elsa, Tx. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Alfredo Ruiz, a loving husband, devoted father, and an adored and proud grandfather.  Alfredo was called home to the Lord on December 5, 2024 at the age of 87.   He was a man of deep faith, steadfast character, selfless dedication, and an unwavering love and commitment to his family.   He will be remembered as a hardworking man with few words but always willing to share his wisdom with a warm smile. 

Alfredo was born January 14, 1937 in Elsa, Texas to Margarito and Angelita Ruiz. Alfredo will be deeply missed by his wife of 62 years, Emma Ruiz, and his 5 children, Javiel Ruiz (Aurelia), Michael Ruiz (Maribel), Anna Schuster (Jim), Isabel Garza (Bo), Laura Ruiz, 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and his siblings, Guadalupe Galvan, Uvaldo Ruiz, Ramon Ruiz, Manuel Ruiz, Rodolfo Ruiz, and Reynaldo Ruiz. He is preceded in death by his parents Margarito and Angelita Ruiz, his brother Jose Ruiz, and sisters Belia Garcia, and Adela Reyes.

As a lifelong baseball enthusiast, Alfredo spent countless hours coaching not only his own children but also his grandchildren. He was a mentor who believed in teaching teamwork, discipline, and the love of the game making him a cherished figure in the community.

A man of remarkable skill, Alfredo built his family home from the ground up creating a space filled with warmth, laughter, and countless memories. His hands were never idle-knew no bounds.

Alfredo left a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.  His family will forever cherish the love and guidance he provided throughout his life. Our hero! 

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Mr. Alfredo Ruiz’s life on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Eternal Light Funeral Home, Elsa, Texas from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7. Mr. Ruiz will also have visitation on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with Funeral Mass to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. Interment will start at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Weslaco, Texas. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Eternal Light Funeral Home of Elsa, Texas.
