Anacleta (Cortez) Avila

MERCEDES – Anacleta Avila Cortez, 75, went to be with Lord Saturday, August 08, 2020 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas. Mrs.  Anacleta Avila Cortez was born on July 13, 1945 in Dr. Arroyo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Sabino Cortez and Paula Medrano.

Mrs. Anacleta Avila Cortez is survived by her husband, Nicolas Avila, her children, Aurelia (Alejandro)Valencia, Jose Luis (Elvia)Avila, Gerardo Avila, Juan Avila, Guadalupe (Martin) Rocha, Abram (Lorena) Avila, fourteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and her siblings, Natividad Cortez, San Juanita Briones, Simona Briones and Ventura Cortez.

Family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at Eternal Light Funeral Home 201 North Broadway in Elsa, Texas.  Cremation will follow at a later date.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Eternal Light Funeral Home of Elsa, TX.

Due to the updated COVID-19 mandates we are allowing 45 individuals at this time. A mask or facial covering is required when entering the funeral home. Thank you for your cooperation and God bless you.
