Casimiro Flores Garza ‘Chicho’ of Elsa, TX passed away on Monday, June 29, 2019, at the age of 89. After a brief illness Chicho died peacefully with several of his children by his side.
Chicho was born in Elsa on September 5, 1930, to father Fermin Garza and mother Patricia Flores Garza. His work ethic and desire to take care of his family led to him enlisting in the Army at age 18. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean War from 1950-1953.
At the end of the war, Chicho returned to Elsa to start a family and a working career. He worked for Texas Plastics in Elsa for 30 years and later worked at University of Texas Pan Am in Edinburg nearly 20 years and retired from there. He is preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years Maria Montelongo Garza. Mr. Garza is survived by his loving children, Lauro (Ludivina) Rodriguez, Maria A. (Sam) Shattuck, Teresa (Carlos) Vazquez, Patricia (Rolando) De La Rosa, Robert (Tina) Garza, 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and brother Manuel (Rebecca) Garza.
A kind and hardworking man who was always willing to lend a hand. His true passions were his family, MLB Baseball, WWE Wresting, and his beloved Dallas Cowboys.
Graveside service for Mr. Garza will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, Texas. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Eternal Light Funeral Home of Elsa, TX.
