Esperanza Rodriguez

ELSA - Esperanza Madrigal Rodriguez, 88, entered into eternal rest from home, Sunday afternoon, July 19, in Elsa, TX. Esperanza was born in Nordheim, Texas to Eligio and Dorotea Madrigal. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Felix Rodriguez Sr., her parents, her brothers, Gregorio “Evita” Madrigal,  Cristino “Cecilia” Madrigal, sister, Juanita Madrigal, and daughters, Delia Avila, and Lydia Rodriguez.

She is survived by her siblings, Hortencia “Juan” Garza, Irma Montoya and Eligio “Odilia” Madrigal Jr., her children Felix Jr., Fernando “Irma”, Blanca “Greg” Martinez, Arturo, Roberto “Noemi”, Ruben, Esperanza “Eddie” Balderas, Luis “Dora”, Norberto “Julia”, Saul “Gracie”, and Isaac, her 33 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

Esperanza was married to Felix Rodriugez Sr. in August 2, 1948 for 62 years before his passing in 2010. She was born and raised the majority of her life in South Texas living between Elsa and Corpus Christi. Esperanza was an avid bingo player with incredible luck, the last matriarch of her proud barrio. Esperanza’s warm presence and loving nature will be missed deeply by her extended Rodriguez and Madrigal family. 

The Rodriguez familia wants to extend our deepest gratitudes to all those who have known her and have shared their condolences and prayers in this time of grief. Thanks to Doctors Hospital at Renaissance as well as The Village Nursing Home in Mission, TX; they are truly heroes. A special loving thanks to Blanca and Greg Martinez for opening their home and lives’ in caring for Esperanza for the past couple of years; also, thanks to Nora Loredo for providing comfort in Esperanza’s final days.

Visitation for Mrs. Rodriguez will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Eternal Light Funeral Home of Elsa, Texas. Interment will follow on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. to Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Weslaco, Texas. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Eternal Light Funeral Home of Elsa, Texas.
