Geronima Florez of Elsa, Texas loving, caring and devoted sister, aunt, cousin and friend passed away on the evening of June 21, 2024 at her residence with her brother and sister by her side. She was born March 27, 1939 in Elmendorf, Texas to Nicolas & Maria Ascencion Florez, both of whom joyfully welcomed her into heaven. Later the family relocated to the Rio Grande Valley, Texas and became a part of the farming community in Stockholm (Lyford) Texas and later Elsa, Texas. She was an alumni of the Lyford ISD. She devoted her life to being a care giver to her parents, siblings, nieces and nephews, the great grandchildren, and others. She was a big fan of baseball, country music, and old westerns. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and making quilts by hand for those dear to her. Cooking and baking was one of her specialties enjoyed by everyone, especially the nieces and nephews whom she pleased with whatever request they had when they came to the farm to visit. Let us not forget the delicious homemade flour tortillas & tamales! Along with her parents, she was welcomed into heaven by her brothers & spouses: Louis Florez (Romanita), Elivorio Florez (Carolina); Sisters: Carolina Quintero, Carmen Cisneros and Yolanda Florez. Special nephew, Henry Florez. Left to cherish her legacy of kindness, love, hard work, honesty and humility are her brothers: Gilbert Florez of the home and Rosendo Florez (Terrell, TX). Sisters: Marcelina Florez of the home, Margarita Marroquin (California), Guadalupe Florez (Terrell, TX). Many very special nieces & nephews, cousins, extended family and wonderful friends and neighbors. We will miss your quiet demeanor and smile and look forward to reuniting at our big family dinner table as we did as children & adults with Apa’ and Ama’ and will continue to do so as a family. Honored to be pallbearers: Gilbert Cisneros, Jr., Raymond Ramirez, Gilbert Morales, Danny & Markie Moreno, Martin Laredo. The Florez family would like to invite family and friends to her visitation on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Eternal Light Funeral Home in Elsa, Texas. Mrs. Florez will have a Chapel Service on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Eternal Light Funeral Home in Elsa, Texas. Interment will follow to Anahuac Community Cemetery in Edcouch, Texas.
