Elsa, Tx. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joaquina Lugo on November 7, 2024 at the age of 98. Mrs. Joaquina was a devoted wife, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. Mrs. Lugo lived a life marked by love, resilience, and quiet strength. Born on August 10, 1926, in Kingsville, Texas to Abraham and Herminia Leija. Joaquina dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family, raising eleven children with a spirit of endless patience and a heart full of warmth.
Joaquina was a talented crocheter, finding joy in crafting beautiful blankets, scarves, and gifts for her loved ones. Her handmade creations, stitched with love and care, are cherished keepsakes that will continue to warm our lives in her absence. She had an incredible gift for making everyone feel at home, with a ready smile, words of encouragement, and her contagious laughter.
She is survived by her loving children: Salomon Lugo (Teodora), Catalina Marquez (Arturo), Javier Lugo (Leticia), Emma Lugo, Magdalena Hernandez (Efrain), Antonio Lugo (Dora), Miguel Lugo, Rosalba Lugo, Mary Perez, Alicia Lugo, as well as many grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren, all or who brought her boundless joy. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the countless memories we hold dear. Mrs. Lugo is preceded in death by her parents: Abraham and Herminia Leija, her loving husband: Jose Angel Lugo, Her Son: Jaime Lugo and grandson: Michael Marquez.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Mrs. Joaquina Lugo’s life on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Eternal Light Funeral Home, Elsa, Texas from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7. Mrs. Lugo will also have visitation on Monday, November 11, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Joaquina Lugo’s Funeral Mass will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Weslaco, Texas. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Eternal Light Funeral Home of Elsa, Texas.
