Weslaco - It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we announce the passing of Joshua Lee Riemersma, who left us far too soon at the age of 28.
Joshua Lee Riemersma was born in McAllen, Texas on March 21, 1997 to Jeffrey Lee Riemersma and Luisa Mata Riemersma. Joshua was known for his kind heart, quick wit, and infectious laughter. A proud and passionate gamer, he found joy in exploring digital worlds, forming friendships, and conquering challenges—always with a controller in hand. But it wasn’t just games that brought him happiness—nothing lit him up more than being surrounded by his family, especially his cousins who enjoyed playing and spending time with him.
He had a soft spot for the simple pleasures in life, and Whataburger was his go-to meal. Whether it was a late-night run or a casual lunch, he never turned down a chance to enjoy his favorite burger.
Above all, Joshua was deeply loved—by his family, his friends, and all who had the chance to know him. His spirit, laughter, and love will forever live on in the hearts of those who cherished him.
Joshua Lee is survived by his loving parents, Jeffrey and Luisa Riemersma, his sister, Lia Esther Riemersma, paternal grandfather, Jerry Lee Riemersma, paternal grandfather, Robert McVey, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. Joshua is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Adolfo and Monica Mata, paternal grandmother Kate McVey, his aunt Ana D. Mata, and uncle Juan P. Mata.
A celebration of Joshua’s life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 2:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Eternal Light Funeral Home. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend and honor his memory.
Rest easy, Joshua, you’ll always be our player one.
