Maria de Jesus (Barco) Tamez

La Blanca Tx. –It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria De Jesus Tamez on January 17, 2025 at the age of 78. Maria De Jesus Tamez was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a loving grandmother.

Maria De Jesus was born on December 24, 1946, to Juan and Maria Dolores Barco in Hargill, Texas. She was born into a big family, being the sibling of 15 other brothers and sisters. Maria De Jesus learned how to share, be patient and appreciate all that she had. Maria De Jesus dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family, raising her three daughters with a spirit of endless patience, a heart full of warmth, and the strength to keep her family together.

Maria de Jesus was a dedicated wife to Reynaldo for 55 years. She loved spending her older years with her husband, Reynaldo.  Maria De Jesus enjoyed her plants, listening to music, and going shopping with her daughters. Maria De Jesus will be remembered for her laughter, her smile and the loved she shared with all who knew her.

Maria De Jesus is survived by her loving husband Reynaldo Tamez and her daughters: Maricela Rodríguez, Elsa Mercado (Hugo), Elia Lerma (Jose), 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, siblings: Elena Quintero, Socorro González, Juana Cerda, Antonio Barco, Javier Barco, Rubén Barco, Santos Barco, Estela Barco, Roberto Barco, Arturo Barco, Juan Barco, María Ramírez, and Armando Barco. Preceded in death by her parents Juan and Maria Dolores Barco and siblings; Jose Luis Barco and Refugia Barco.

Maria De Jesus will be deeply missed, but her spirit and love will remain with us always.

The Family of Mrs. Maria De Jesus Tamez invites friends and family to celebrate her life with visitation on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 2:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Eternal Light Funeral Home located in Elsa, Texas. Visitation will continue on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Eternal Light Funeral home in Elsa, Texas. Friday January 24, 2025 will be the funeral Mass for Mrs. Maria De Jesus Tamez will be at Sacred heart Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. with Internment to follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Weslaco, Texas. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Eternal Light Funeral Home of Elsa, TX.
