Edinburg – Maria A. Villarreal, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Monday, August 3, 2020 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas. Mrs. Maria A. Villareal was born on October 18, 1944 in Falfurrias, Texas to Ramon Ponce and Maria Luisa Garza Santos.

she is preceded in death by  her  parents, brother  Ramon Ponce, sister Juana Ponce, Mrs. Villarreal is survived by her loving husband, Avelino Villarreal, children Avelino (Irma) Villarreal Jr., Rose Mary( Jimmy) Mitchell, Mary Lou ( Steve) Reyna, Roel ( Veronica Gomez) Villarreal, Randy ( Maribel) Villarreal, Jacob Lee Villarreal., 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren.

Viewing for Mrs. Maria A. Villarreal will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a Rosary at 4:00 pm at Eternal Light Funeral Home of Elsa, Texas. Mrs.  Maria Alicia Villarreal will be cremated at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Eternal Light Funeral Home of Elsa, TX. Due to the updated COVID-19 mandates, we are allowing 75 individuals at a time. A mask or facial covering is required when entering the funeral home.
