Mr. Mariano Villanueva went to be with the Lord Wednesday December 13, 2023 at his residence in Monte Alto, Texas. Mr. Villanueva was born on January 14, 1933 to Mariano Villanueva and Clara Ramos in Reynosa Tamaulipas, Mexico. Mariano Villanueva was the husband to Connie Villanueva for 69 years and father to 10 children. He was known for his great work ethic and dedicated several decades to the Delta Lake Irrigation District and many years to the Monte Alto School District. His legacy lives on through the values he instilled in his children. We thank God for our friend Lidia Ledezma who cared for him as if he were her own father. A special thank you to Joseph and Ester Wade who also cared for Mariano. We give God all the Glory for allowing him 90 years of life.
Mr. Villanueva is survived by his loving wife Connie Villanueva, his children Estevan Villanueva, Arturo Villanueva (Virginia), Susan Longoria (Cesar), Mariano Villanueva Jr., Yolanda Villarreal (+Jose Luis), Vilma Villanueva Gregg (Steve), Connie Villanueva, Omar Villanueva, Ricky Villanueva (Elizabeth) and 22 grandchildren with numerous great grandchildren. Mr. Villanueva is also survived by his siblings; Margot Garcia, Claudina Tamez, Alfredo Villanueva and Leovigildo Villanueva. Mr. Villanueva is preceded in death by his parents Mariano and Clara Villanueva, his son; Avelardo Villanueva, greatgrandchild Sunny Emmarie Baldivia, his siblings Tomasa Tijerina, Viviana Prado, Josefa Flores, and Ninfa Izaguirre. The Villanueva family would like to invite all his family and friends to attend his visitation on Friday December 15, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Eternal Light Funeral Home in Elsa, Texas with Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. and a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Villanueva will have his funeral mass at Christ the King Catholic Church in Monte Alto, Texas on Saturday December 16 at 8:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Weslaco, Texas. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Eternal Light Funeral Home of Elsa, TX.
