Monte Alto- It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Ricardo (Ricky) Lopez at 56 on March 15, 2025 surrounded by his family. Ricardo Lopez was born on September 8, 1968 in Weslaco Texas, to Audelio Lopez and Oralia Davila Lopez.
Ricardo began his career as a Volunteer firefighter for Edcouch, Monte Alto, Elsa and La Villa before proudly serving as a firefighter in Alamo and San Juan, Texas. He was with them for 30 years and EMT for 10 years. Ricardo dedicated his life to service, and community. His bravery and commitment to protecting others left a lasting impact on those who work alongside him and the many lives he’s touched.
In addition to his firefighting duties, Ricardo Lopez served as a member of the Monte Alto School Board where he worked tirelessly to ensure a brighter future for local children. Rick’s contribution to the development and well-being of local students was a great passion for him. Ricardo wanted the best for his beloved town of Monte Alto.
Ricardo Lopez is survived by his loving mother Oralia Lopez, his siblings Jaime Lopez (Noemi Lopez), Martha Lopez, Elda Lopez, Guadalupe Lopez, Marivel Lopez, nieces and nephews, Celeste Lopez, Levi Lopez, Joshua Micheal Outlaw, Samantha Jo Vasquez, Maximilano Vasquez and Miranda Garza and great nephew Ray Santos Outlaw. He was preceded in death by his father Audelio Lopez.
A service to honor and celebrate Ricardo’s Life will be held at Eternal Light Funeral Home in Elsa, Texas on March 17, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Ricardo Lopez will be having his Funeral mass on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Cristo Rey Church in Monte Alto, Texas at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Valle De la Paz in Hargill, Texas.
