Valentina Garza Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and family pillar, Valentina Garza on July 23, 2025, who went to be with the Lord at the age of 96. She passed peacefully, surrounded by the family she lived her life for.

Valentina was born to Lorenzo and Ventura Garza on February 14, 1929 in Mercedes, Texas. Valentina left school at an early age to work and help care for her younger brothers and sisters. Even as a young girl, she carried the weight of responsibility with courage and grace.

Valentina later married Julio Garza and raised six children of her own, both working in the fields to provide for them. Her strong work ethic and unwavering determination shaped the foundation of her family. Valentina worked hard so her children could go to school and get an education. She strongly believed that education was the way to a better life. Through her example, she taught her children to work hard, to love one another, to stay united no matter what, and to always help each other through life’s challenges.

Family meant everything to Valentina. She was always waiting with a warm meal, a kind word, and an open heart. Her home was a place of comfort and love—a place where everyone felt welcomed and cared for. Whether it was a holiday or an ordinary day, she made sure no one left her home hungry or without feeling loved.

She is survived by her loving children: Reynaldo De La Cruz (Linda), Yolanda Galindo (Isidro), Irma Mora (Armando), Richard Garza (Irene), Gloria Maldonado (Rene) along with17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. Valentina is also survived by her siblings Tiburcio Garza, Juan Onesimo Garza, Elisa Garza, and Herman Garza and many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will forever carry her legacy forward.

Valentina Garza is preceded in death by her parents; Lorenzo and Ventura Garza, her Husband Julio Garza daughter; Silvia Elizondo, sister; Maria Romana Rangel, brothers; Patricio Garza, Stanley Garza, Gabriel Garza, her grandson; Reynaldo De la Cruz Jr., and great granddaughter Aaliyah Rae De La Cruz.

Valentina's life was one of service, strength, and deep love. She was the heart of her family and will be missed more than words can express.
